A natural entrepreneur and hustler, Meech quickly made a name for himself within the Atlanta music scene. His BMF Entertainment label, which he started in 2000, was signed to a major distribution deal with Sony BMG in 2003. This widespread success allowed Meech the opportunity to launch a multi-million dollar music empire.
In between his success as a record executive and businessman, Meech also developed a reputation as a shrewd and ambitious rapper associated with the influential Black Mafia Family. He worked with artists such as T.I., Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane and more, and cultivated a legacy within the southern rap scene. Sadly, the success of Meech and the Black Mafia Family eventually led to the group’s downfall. In 2006, he and his brother were arrested and later convicted of drug trafficking and running a criminal enterprise. Meech was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison, where he remains today.
